定位就是聊个天

One of the places my husband picks up information is TikTok. For a while, he kept telling me about a business influencer called 顾均辉 who talks a lot about positioning, or 定位.
I had a thing against his style, so I mostly dismissed whatever my husband told me about him.
Then one day I was in Kaohsiung with some time to kill. I went into a bookstore and saw his book among the bestsellers.
I remember thinking: can I humble myself enough to understand what this guy is trying to say?
So I bought the book.
I still did not particularly like parts of it. But through him, I “met” Jack Trout, whose work on positioning had somehow escaped me despite years of teaching business.
Suddenly, quite a few things made sense.
I had always been a doer, focused on the thing itself. Trout made me think more carefully about the mind first: how people actually perceive the thing before they ever experience it.
I did not expect to learn that from a book I almost refused to read.
